sell tar

been missing in action for quite awhile now. it’s not a coincidence that my disappearance started with the commencement of the sell tar course which has been taking up a rather huge portion of my time even though i’m required to be at the institute for only two full days out of the week. the beginning of the sell tar coincided with pms, doggy’s surgery and my family’s trip to hongkong so it was an extremely tough two weeks as i had to adjust from bumming mode to non-bumming mode, take care of doggy who was all, well, bitchy and grumpy and get dinner for ourselves and clean the house.

the only person i saw for the first month of the sell tar course was T who stayed with me for the week my family was away. i am extremely grateful to him for moving in and being extremely patient with me on the mornings of the sell tar course. getting bitten by doggy first thing in th morning doesn’t help when i’ve got to get up at 0645h, prepare her breakfast trying to disguise her medicine as crunchy pieces of food, spoonfeed her water, attempt to change her dressing and leave for the institute by 0745h. i had to rush home after sell tar and work to feed her so i couldn’t meet people for dinner. it was an extremely stressful period.

anyway i’ve been trying out food at a few places which i’ve always wanted to go to. the first was giraffe in istana park. the food selection is tiny but they have a pretty extensive drink menu. of course one will go there for the ambience and i had a great time with the two tourists (one of them’s a friend of a friend) and t. i was afraid they couldn’t recognize me since i didn’t provide them with a photo of myself but i think t was a pretty good signpost. i thought that the ambience, combined with the food was worth the price we paid. my only regret was that we were sitting in the outdoors on a particularly hot and humid night.

we celebrated dia’s birthday on the 6th of october and i have the photographs but they’re too ugly to be posted. i will send them to you guys if you want though. we had a great time getting to know lingwei while having tea at the royal copenhagen teahouse before heading over to the little red house for our seafood dinner. i think it’s my first time having chilli crab and while it was good, it’s not something i will crave in the future. i don’t really like my chilli to be sweet tasting unless it’s thai chilli. the birthday girl then left us and we headed over to my place for some games. cluedo was a little difficult but airplane chess was hysterical. chel liked it so much she bought a set for herself.

t and i had a dinner date at l’angelus. unfortunately my outfit was ruined by the plastic bag which was the result of an afternoon supermarket trip where i picked up two boxes of poptarts for t. it didn’t help that it was a sell tar day and i had to carry my papers, coursebook, pencil case and bottle. so l’angelus was bloody expensive, judging from the number of blue notes t took out for the bill. we started off with a pot of foie gras which frankly was, too much for 2 people to share. thank god(dess) for the divine wine or i might have gotten nauseated by the richeness of it. i finally got to eat langoustines. unfortunately t couldn’t stomach any chocolate for dessert or we would have gotten the warm chocolate cake. the tart tartine with cinnamon icecream was delicious and complemented the tart tartine perfectly.
we were absolutely sated by the time we were done.

today abby decided that she wanted noodles for lunch so we popped into don-something at tanglin mall, but i think there are other branches elsewhere. the food is not worth the money and i would have preferred eating at the foodcourt or some japanese fast food chains.

little man might be travelling to krabi in november. fingers crossed. it would have been better if i went right after the sell tar ends but it’s close enough. maybe as a sorta celebration i could shamelessly tag along on one of my dad’s business trips.
anyway, the next post will be me bitching about my sell tar coursemates.
