It’s been a pretty eventful week, my purchases from Ebay has arrived. The first being castor oil  on Tuesday (more about that in the next post) and the neti-pot arrived on Wednesday. A neti-pot is simply a device used for nasal irrigation. Nasal Spa was the cheapest I found on Ebay. I decided to buy a neti-pot as I’m tired of having a blocked nose for three quarters of a year, courtesy of having a sensitive nose. All the doctors have done so far was to prescribe anti-histamines and nasal sprays. As the weather has been scorching hot, I’ve been sleeping with the air-conditioner on, making the problem worse. I hijacked my parents humidifier (somehow the decorative one that Michi bequeathed to me made me very sick). That helped the situation a little but I decided to try nasal irrigation after reading about it (popularize by Oprah and raved about by Bob)

Nasal Spa is aesthetically pleasing, having won an award for industrial design.  Unfortunately for me, its spout is a little too big for my little asian female nostrils  and  it feels like I’m sodomizing my nostrils whenever I use it. Anyway, the  first time wasn’t too bad, my nose was more or less unblocked and after a couple of  false starts, I managed to get the water flowing out from my other nostril  instead of the back of my throat. However, I must have forgotten to blow out my  nose throughly because I had some extremely salty post-nasal drips.  My second time  today was a complete disaster; first my left nostril is crazily-blocked from the journey back home and the water didn’t flow at all. I tried from both sides but to no avail. I went for a hot shower and that unblocked the nose. However, I decided to put in less salt as I thought the solution from the previous night might be a little too salty but that was a bad idea since the water just burnt my nasal cavitiy. I think I still need to experiment and find a good ratio. Supposedly one teaspoon in 500ml is just right but I doubt the capacity of Nasal Spa is even 250ml. I’ll persevere with irrigating my nasal cavity.
